== Patrick Kane sexual assault investigation controversy ==

Tim Graham is best known for his August-November 2015 coverage of the Patrick Kane sexual assault investigation, in which a woman accused the Chicago Blackhawks forward of assaulting her at his Hamburg, New York home on August 2 2015. The investigation would ultimately end on November 5 2015 with District Attorney Frank Sedita III declining to bring charges against Kane. Graham subsequently gained infamy as many supposed information leaks he had reported early in the investigation were ultimately determined to be untrue.
Graham first broke the news of the Kane investigation via Twitter on August 6. In the following weeks and months, Graham would gain notoriety for his frequent reporting of unverifiable rumors and gossip incriminating of Patrick Kane while attempting to discredit any reported information leaks appearing to favor Kane's innocence. This was viewed by many as a blatant attempt to influence a negative public opinion of Kane at a time when very few details of the investigation had been made public.
Graham frequently cited anonymous "law enforcement sources" for information he claimed to have received pertaining to details of the investigation despite members of the Hamburg Police Department having been specifically ordered not to speak to members of the media regarding the Kane investigation. On November 5 2015 Sedita officially announced that Kane would not be charged with any criminal offense, writing in an official statement "The totality of the credible evidence – the proof – does not sufficiently substantiate the complainant’s allegation that she was raped by Patrick Kane and this so-called ‘case’ is rife with reasonable doubt".
Following those events, many members of the public reacted by passionately calling for Graham's dismissal from his jobs with the Buffalo News and TSN 1050-AM radio, believing that his coverage of the Kane investigation was a display of gross unprofessionalism and a blatant attempt to tarnish the reputation of Patrick Kane and also cautioning that the reputation of the Buffalo News and TSN would very likely be damaged in turn by continued employment of the disgraced Graham. In spite of the outcry, Tim Graham has remained in his positions with both news outlets. Graham has stood by his coverage of the Patrick Kane investigation and has continually denied having any agenda against Kane.
